why get the exact ford mystic color...dupont makes plenty of "chrome illusion" colors. granted it is also very expensive (hundreds per pint)...i know my buddy paid 1200 for just his roll cage to be painted to match his car so i can only imagine what the entire car cost (i could certainly find out)...it changes 6 colors and this photo does it no justice at all. certainly turns a lot of heads but it's not for me

I work in a body shop and have come across this color. BASF does make it and it is not available to the public. The car we had in we had to call BASF, a rep came down, assesed the damage, next day aired the paint to him, painted the repaired panels, and then took the paint that was left with him when he left. If you really want a color changing paint job check out DuPont, PPG, Matrix and Alsa.

Why bother, personally I think that color is ghey. Too many fart wing ricers with color changing paint ruined the mystic colors for me.

the fact that it is hard to get is true but i work for a parts store thats sells autopaint to body shops all the time and i actually checked on this paint for my mustang 2 days agothe base that cost the most is MT21 it is $538 a pint for me to buy and i can have it the very same day i order it so its not that hard to get but it is pricey if havent looked up the code and price for the newer chroma base yet though i think ill do that monday

well i did it and ordered up 2 pints of mt22 base and 1 pint of mt21 they will be here next tuesday and with that ill mix me up 2 quarts of color. plenty to do up my 98 mustang with 04 cobra mystichrome paint code g6. It is pricey but i love the color and so does my wife. I couldnt believe how much those pints of base were $300 a pint. Good thing i only need to buy 1 whole pint the rest is going on my mixing rack for somebody else to use someday. ill let you all know the total for materials and labor when i get my car back next week
