go to a flooring store and ask them for what they would use to remove padding off of your home floor. Home carpet padding usually glued to the subfloor as such, when replacing carpet padding you have to prep the floor. That involves scraping the old padding and adhesive off.
Don't know if Home depot or Lowes would have it or not.

gotcha. what about this foamy stuff that seems to be around all the pinch welds? its not the same material but just as annoying to peel up. Any idea what it is or what its used for. But more importantly an easy way to get it up?

The foamy stuff is seam sealer. It is put on to keep the welds from rusting, and also a preventative measure to keep car emmissions from entering the cabin of your car.It is also helps make the car quieter with no annoying squeaks etc.
