Default What's the best tire pressure?

I have 245 45ZR 17 Sumitomo tires all the way around. I've never heard of Sumitomo, but that was what was on there when I bought the car. On the tire is says the max psi is 55lbs, but I have 35lbs all the way around. Is this enough or should I go higher? I'm not too familiar with tire pressure in low profile tires and the last thing I want to do is blow them out. Thanks.

I would drop down to 30 psi and then check the tire wear pattern after a few thousand miles to see if they are wearing evenly across the full tread width. at 35 do they look even or are they wearing more in the center than on the edges?

Actually what got me concerned to begin with was that the back tires seem to be bowed inward in the middle... like only the outer tread is in contact with the road. The front tires look fine though, and they are all at the same pressure. Do I just need new tires? There is still a little bit of tread left of the back tires. Haha! Nowhere near as much as on the front though. Thanks.

wear in the middle like that means the tire has been running with too much air in it. also the rears take more of a beating when you accelerate hard a lot. you probably want to get some new rear tires and monitor the pressure and wear closely to find the right pressure to run.

Thanks for the info. I do do a lot of hard accelerating (don't we all?) so I figure the next thing I'll be replacing will be the clutch. haha... Thanks again for the great info.
