The CFM output of the compressor is a more important factor than the horsepower of the compressor. Check your tool manuals and see what they say the various tools use and at what pressure they use it to work correctly. What compressor you choose also depends upon what type of usage you will be doing, like just using air wrenches or grinders or painting, etc. Whatever size you finally select, make sure the tank has a low point drain valve on it so you can drain out the water that condenses in the tank to keep the tank from rusting out. A larger tank also keeps the compressor from having to run as much when you use the air.

Heya roundmanracing, I am looking into buying an air compressor, I seen this one on sale at a store

Campbell Hausfeld 2.5-hp, 8-gallon Air Compressor

Peak HP of 2.5, running HP of 1.3
15 amps, 120V
1/2" impact wrench, 3/8" air ratchet, air chisel, 25' hose, 17-piece accessory kit
Pump rpm: 3,200
Cast-iron oil lubricated
5.2 scfm @ 40 psi; 4.2 scfm @ 90 psi
Oversized gauges
Built-in tool/accessory storage
Weight: 64 lbs
8-gallon with a maximum psi of 125

I am just wanting something to beable to handle impact guns / air ratchets, for doing the mechanic jobs in my yard.

What do you think of this one?

Thanks for youre info.

it will probably do OK for the occasional use around the house and garage for what you want to do.

It will work for most anything you want to do, other than long term air hogging tools like paint guns, due grinders, da sanders, etc. Those would still work but not for long.
