Default Power gains.. but not lower times??

Ive recently been hearing that things such as getting rid of power steering, A/C and heat, electric fan, and even an electric waterpump do not actually mean lower 1/4 mile times even though the upgrade or downgrade obviously frees up power. Is this true?

Default RE: Power gains.. but not lower times??

When going straight, the power steering pump will pull almost no power.

Heaters don't take away power.

The AC won't take any noticeable power unless the compressor is on. If you're at full throttle, your AC compressor will not be able to turn on due to the interupt circuit most cars have.

Electric anything will take power from your car through the alternator, which introduce ineffiency. You can have the electric accessories off while you make the run, but they may not be feasible and could harm the engine.

The amount of power that you'd save from the above would be noticeable to a pro, but not to an amateur. Your trap speed through the quarter is a result of horsepower...unless you consistantly run the same MPH with a tenth or two, you aren't a good enough driver to notice these changes (or your car isn't tuned well enough, or the car isn't set up the same each time).
