Check guage light-- only first thing on cold mornings
Anybody know why a 2001 Explorer Sport trac would have a check guage light only first thing in the morning on cold mornings?
did it last winter then fine all summer, doing it now in the fall weather. wife says its off in about a mile. I have turned car off then startd it again to make it go away.
Does a check guage light put a code in the computer I could check or have auto zone check?
Any input is appreciated

Don't know what a check gauge light is. Read your owners manual and tell us what it is supose to warn you about....
The most obvious thing I can think of on a cold engine is that it is probably running richer at least for a while This may have something to do with it ( Guess )

Thanks for the reply--
It seems it ended up being a bad oil sender-- the oil guage stopped working in the mornings- I replaced oil sender and now we will know in the morning if it is fixed. It is supposed to be a common problem with the explorer and I also learned it is not an actual pressure guage-- It points to 1/2 way on the guage if there is 5psi of oil pressure and lays down at the post if there is less than 5psi of pressure. Its basically a catastrophic oil failure guage. go figure......
but i now learned how to check the stangs pressure with a test guage I made with parts from advance.
