351W with C6 transmission
Hey everyone, new to the group
I just bought a 69' mustang with a 351W from a 94' F250. It originally had a straight 6. It has a c6 tranny hooked up to it. I'm not sure what year it is from. There is no ID tag on the transmission. It has some numbers stamped on the housing along the edge of the transmission pan. Will these help to find out what it is out of? Also, the transmission rear support brkt. does not seem to fit properly. The rubber bushings do not touch the brkt when I lower the transmission off the jack (changed fluid and filter). Could I have the wrong motor mounts? This is my first project car. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Tim

RE: 351W with C6 transmission
The numbers will be the first part of the VIN for the car it came out of. I would almost bet the trans came from the same vehicle. If the numbers start 1FT or 2FT it will be a truck transmission.

There's a casting number on the tranny case. The tranny is likely not from something as new as a '94. The tranny should sit on the rear mount easily without any binding. It isn't too difficult to enlongate the tranny mount hole a little, or fabricate an extension if necessary.
