3.8 to 5.0 but i want to keep the tranny??
Just to start i am new to the forum, i have a 95 3.8 5 speed mustang. I just recently blew the head gasket and i bought a wrecked GT that im gonna pull the engine out of it to put in my car since ive been talkin bout doin this swap for months and finally found the perfect excuse to convince my parents to go along with it. unfortuneately the GT is an automatic and i would like to keep it a 5 speed, will the 5.0 motor bolt up to this tranny, do i need a new bell housing?? and the MAF got destroyed in the accident so any suggestions where i can pick one of those up for cheap would be nice. Since im off for a couple weeks since school is out for christmas and so is my work i figured it would be a good project to tackle. let me know what u guys think!!

even if it does fit, it wont last to long. Even the manuals for the 5.0 wont handle much more than stock and i believe the 3.8 tranny is weaker...though im not positive.

not sure on the autos, you know this is going to be a long and hard swap though right? i would of just found a motor out of a thunderbird supercoupe and called it a day
i dont think the 4R70 will bolt up to a 302

ya i know its gonna be a tough one and usually i try and stay away from all the electronic s**t...i did a swap on my 1981 camaro, pulled the 350 and threw in a big block. but this swap is in a whole different category, but its my daily driver and im the typical guy that has to be bigger and better than the next guy plus ive been talkin bout this swap for a long time. so im sure ill have alot of tech questions posted especially since im not familiar with the mustangs but i am determined it will be done, plus i couldnt beat the price i got this car for, i could sell the motor, rearend and tranny and make double my money back, so it was a win-win for me even if the swap was impossible i was gonna buy it!

sell the 5.0 motor, tranny and rear end, get your money back, then hunt around for a thunderbird supercoupe, with just the motor/lower and dual exhaust you have the capability of running low 14s (someone on 3.8 ran 14.1X on stock open diff and tires) in all that is the true easiest way to do it, and you will be faster

i was thinking about getting a different intake manifold, carbureting it, i rebuild holleys as a hobby so i have plenty of carbs laying around that are all set to go, all i need is an intake then i could rip all that computer crap right out and just hook up the emission things i need to pass because in NYS 1995 do not have to be plugged in to pass emission standards, plus i am familiar with these set ups because i ahve redone my camaro a few different times. what do u guys think?

i dont really need it to be quick just a fun little toy...i have the camaro that is more of my hot rod so there is no need for two. plus it will be a lot easier, and i like the look of a nice intake and carb better, but im just makin a cool little street rod not a wheelie puller

I dunno, after hearing what some of the 3.8 'guys' have to say, it'd be smarter to keep your turd 3.8 and mod it than swap a 5.0 into it. [sm=bangbang.gif]
