Iridium Spark Plugs... True Advantage??
Ok so i just put some autolite copper plugs in my 88 5.0 now ive been reading up on iridium spark plugs and they claim to burn better and give more power. can anyone let me know realistically if it does or not??
right now im running MSD with blaster coil and MSD ignition wires.... i gapped the autolites to .060 opposed to the facory .054 figuring with the stong ignition system i could burn better with a larger gap.
so please let me know i am currently looking into NGK and DENSO<<which i see alot in mustang magazines.
also i have edelbrock performer RPM aluminum heads. i know there is a special length for the plug. if you have info on that please include thanks alot!!

The only real advantage is that they last longer. The dis-advantage is that under many performance applications, particularly high compresson engines and forced induction set-ups, the irridium plugs will cause detonation.

Thats horrible. God do i know about detonation. I had 2 4.6's blow up on me. Theres no worse feeling than hearing your supercharger and exhaust in sync. when all a sudden *POP* 7 cylinder supercharged.
i cant believe that i keep seeing the denso irridium plugs **** all over and they say more torque more horsepower and all this **** yet they may detonate a forced induction motor. Jeez, what bull****. I guess copper is the real deal still!
