RE: Is there a big difference in MPG between V6 and V8 Stangs?
Good evening,
I drive a V6 "Stang and cover 130 miles per day. I average 23-24.5 MPG, depending on how much I get into it. It is essentially all highway miles, though quite a bit of rural countryside, but I tend to have a heavy'ish foot!?! (70-85 average). The V8 will be slightly less- from my guesstimate approx. 2 mpg less on average. This is nothing scientific, as I have not owned a V8 "Stang (yet, drooling in anticipation), but my V6 gets my fix for now. I was driving an '01 Accord prior to getting the "Stang. (Insert ricer insults here - I got a promotion at work and went from driving 3 miles per day to 65 - was driving a sweet Silverado prior to that, but couldn't do the 130 miles per day on that one). Good gas mileage on the Honda and solid as a rock, but with the personality of Styrofoam!?! My commute is MUCH more enjoyable these days - that is usually the high point of the day!!! I am sold whole hog on the Mustangs - Either way, you can't go wrong - my "Stang is better \than a therapist!!!!!!!!!!!! No BS!
As usual, my .02...

I am afraid that the price of gas will go real high again, this summer.Gas mileage will hurt everyone in the pocketbook,...
It won't make much difference on fuel economy whether your in a V8 or V6 Mustang.

I get 25-28 in my 99 v6, and 23-25 in my gt auto, They guy who wrote that v8's are gas guzzlers probably works for toyota or hond,. even in my old 77 f150 with a 390 4bbl w/ a c6 auto and I belive 3.89 gears( cant remember) I got 19-20 out of it.
