Thanks for the lead but that site does not mention adjusting the carb for richness.

At this time all I can assume is that the OEM carb used on the 85 Mustang (which is differnet in detail then the Holley aftermarket carb with the same series number) has the adjustment screws in the same location as the aftermarket carb.

The big difference being that access to the adjistment screws has been prevented. Being a plastic injection mold maker I am curious as to how they cast the carb base with the adjustment screws INSIDE the casting.

All I do know for certain is that the owner of Pony Carbs told me I would have to remove material from outside the base casting and that would allow access to the adjustment screws.

He also told me that unlike the older carbs which are adjusted with a screwdriver, the 85 Mustang carb is adjusted with allen wrenches.

All I can say is that the Federal law that put an end to adjusting carbs "at home" was a shot in the foot of the purpose of the law. My 85 has ALWAYS run rich. If I had easy excess to the adjustments the car would run better then the method used by the factory in an attempt to met smog emission standards!
