Lt's Legal

I'm looking at a project car.... a '90 w/ all the stuff done to it, including LT's... Could I have a bung welded in the stock location so they're not too far away from the motor?

I know it would be costly, but not more so than getting the LT's off of there...

Could it be done and be legal?

Well, I believe that's b/c they take the 02's too far away from the engine, which make you fail emissions... but if you remedied the situation by welding a bung in the stock distance from the motor, making them legal?

LTs are legal in many different places. All depends on your city or state regulations on emissions.

Lt's are not legal in VA... They won't pass emissions OR visual inspection...I'm not worried about inspection, just emissions......

you can certainly buy some bungs to mount O2 sensors in and put them into the collector on the long tubes and hook them up and they should work fine. I think Summit or Jegs sells the bungs under "exhaust systems" and you can buy extension connections for the O2 sensors or just splice and extend the wires yourself. As long as the sensors are mounted into the collectors where they "see" the combined exhaust from both cylinder banks, there is no reason at all why they won't work and control the emissions too.
