Rear sway bar fractured and needs to be replaced
. Ya I noticed on the road this afternoon a lot of clanking in the back thinking it was the exhaust bouncing around but after inspection the driver side of my rear sway bar is broken where it bolts to the frame. Since at the moment the bar is useless and not benefitting me at all, can I break the other side and take it out in order to get rid of the noise? Or should I wait until I can get a replacement for some reason (if so what reason?)?
Any advice would be appreciated!

It does just unbolt. Two bolts on each side. You will notice a fairly significant decrease in handling if you run with it off. Ford replacements are quite reasonable ($100ish) and there are many aftermarket replacements available as well.
This is the number one most common problem with SN95 cars. It snapped on my wife's 96 Cobra at about 45,000 miles.

Swaybars are meant to be used as a matched set, front and back. Some people will mix and match to get a particular handling charactreristic.I would leave the experimenting out and either replace the broken part with a stock swaybar or get a matched set from MM,Steeda or another QUALITY manufacturer.
