Default M.A.C. airfilers

I bought my mustang used with a CAI and the airfilter that is installed is M.A.C. brand. I could not find any information on the web about them, but does anyone know how to clean it? When I took it off i used warm water and the some cleaning stuff from my old K&N air filter along with the K&N oil to re-oil it. Can anyone inform me if this was a bad idea?
Thanks

Is it a cotton-gauze filter or paper? Never seen one.

i have mac's and i just soak them in the sink with liquid dawn dish soap as it breaks down oil the best, using hot water to rinse clean, let it dry and re-oil with k&n oil
and your good to go........................
