Help with piggy back pulleys and timing adj.
My 98 GT came with some blue pulleys already installed.
Looking to add a timing adjuster I emailed Steeda to ask if they could tell me if the adjuster would fit.
They told me that mine are piggyback ones and that my vibration dampner is missing so my bottom end will eventually fail.
Seems like now I havea bigger problem....[&:]
Any ideas on what to do ?

if your pullies are piggyback when you look at the crankshaft pulley there should be two on it , there will be a groved pulley in front of the one the belt goes on just sitting there, that should be your stock damper.

I doubt they left it off. Get some pictures and we will verify if you have piggy back or not. Probably easier to get the pics from underneath. And if you do have piggyback you should spend the money on some steeda UPD instead of that timing adjuster

Ok, here is the pulley in my hand.
You can see that there is a ridge on the inner part near where the front oil seal would make contact with the pulley.
There seems to be no damage to the crankshaft but I don't loke the ridge cut in the aluminum of the pulley.
I believe that these were originally meant to bolt the stock vibration dampner to. There are threaded holes in the front as you can see in the other pic.

I believe that you have a BBK UDP's. You should be able to use a timing adjuster with that system. And the threaded holes are used to pull the dampener off. I hope you didn't use the claw type to pull that dampener off. You take a chance off bending them doing it that way.

Well, just for the heck of it I went to my local speed shop and tried the Steeda timing adjuster on my pulley. It seems to fit fine but it does protrude a bit.
The shop wants $140.00 for the under drive pulley with the built in vibration dampner.
If money was no object I would get it
I don't know what to do .....[&o]
