Fuel Filter Won't Come Off! Please Help!

Ok so i start the car, unplug the pump, runs for about 5 seconds then it dies. I go under the car and ive just spent 30 minutes trying to tug the dam filter off and it Just wont come off!! Do I need some kind of special tool to get it off? I know on the sn95 you dont but are the new edges any different or somethin? I have a 2000. Any input much appreciated!

I have a 2000 GT and needed a AC/Fuel line disconect tool. http://www.autobarn.net/lis37000.html
The link shows the type of tool that I used. I really don't know if that is a reasonable price or not. I just wanted to give you a visual of the tool I used.

Ya buy the part that silver said. You can buy them at any APS (auto parts store)
