New to the form dont know if this has been discussed yet. My battery is dead in my 97 mustang and the key that works in the ignition will not unlock my car. When I bought the car the dealer ship only gave me one key. I doubt that there is a seprate key that would have been for the door. Any ideas other then a lock smith to get into my car.

I assume the key also fits the pass door and the hatch.

The worst case is to get a cop to come and use
their door lock opener to get in.
Next, open the hood and change the battery.
Keep a window open and then try the key.

I have never had a problem opening my car door manually without a battery. Is it a Ford key and did you try both doors?

Lock was changed before and not matched to the ignition key to save money, lame...

Somebody's paying now.[&:] That sucks! If you have AAA, maybe they can come out and open it.
