HELP: 351 swap with a new 2 core radiator, still overheats!!
Im out of ideas and am hoping for some help from you guys. I did a 351 swap into a 2000 mustang. I used the stock radiator ( v6 ) and it was overheating . I figured it was too small of a radiator. I bought a new 2 core aluminum radiator ( biggest I could find that would fit), and it still overheats. I took the t stat out and cut the center out of it and reinstalled it. It did better, but it still will overheat. I mean, it will hit 250 degreesif I let it.Its got a brand new waterpump. I know the headgaskets were installed correctly( right side up, front side at front) . My only guesses at this point that it could be is either the water pump is defective even though its new, or I have some water passages blocked because its got gt40p's from a 2000. If you look at head gaskets in jegs. a small block gasket only goes up to the year 91 or 93. The engine block is a 79. Heads are 2000What do you guys think?? defective waterpump, or blocked water passages from wrong gasket or something?? or something else? Any help is appreciated.

I think I figured it out .... maybe. Water pump is spinning the wrong way?? I used a custom serpentine setup, and Im wondering if a water pump for a 79 351 is a standard roatation v belt design rather than a reverse rotation serpentine design???? Also, ifthat is the caese and Iget a late model sbf water pump, will the 79 timing cover still work sincethe new one isa reverse rotation?
