Default Installed new intake gaskets and valve cover gaskets. Lifter tick now.

Well i have a 351w with edlebrock heads, cam, and performer intake. The engine was nice and quiet just had leaking intake gaskets and the valve cover gakets where leaking also. I replace both sets of gaskets and changed the oil and coolant. Well i start it back up and now i have no leaks but its ticking like hell. I even changed the oil twice to make sure i got all the water out and its still ticking like hell. What are the chance i had a lifter collapse and why the hell would this happen just when i change these parts?? Guess i have to take the damn manifold back off and check it out. Just wanted to get some ideas Thanks.
