too many miles to start modding?

too many miles to start modding?
in your opinion, after how many miles would you say is too much to start modding? example: say you have a stock mustang gt and it has 78000 miles on it. would it be worth modding even though it has 78000 miles on it?

You can't really judge a car by the miles it has on it. A well taken care of car with 200k+ miles on it could be in better condition than a car with 16k thatsomeidiot ragged out. Besidesanything that can wear out can be replaced. I say mod it till the wheels fall off and then get rims.

With bolt ons there is no such thing as too many miles, you are actually helping the engine run better. Lightweight items and UDP's will help it live longer.
Its driving like a crazed teen that will kill the car.

That's a funny question to a classic owner!
I don't think there is any such thing as too many miles to mod. Keep in mind the weekest link theory though, if you start building up some parts, other parts related to them could show their age. That's OK though, it gives you an excuse to swap those out also!
Good luck!

well my dad had an 03 infiniti g35 and had about 68,000 on her and we thought abuot giving it to me and i wass going to mod it but we thought that we would just be throwing our money away so i got my new gt and now modding that so i think anything above 60-65,000 is getting up there and might wanna considerate doing something diff. unless u just have the money to blow it

RE: too many miles to start modding?
absolutely not, there is never "two many miles" to mod because bolt ons actually do help the engine run more efficiently as long as a good tune is present, as for boost, it would probably be a good idea the keep it at 8-10 pounds on a stock bottom end.Simple bolt ons like exhaust and gears will always increase performance. Certain modifications are risky on high mileage engines such as N20 and boost. As long as you use these with manufacturers recomendation and a good custom tune you will be fine.
