i was reading on several other mustang forums, and heard from several people that a combo of longtube headers, h-pipe and 2.5" dual cat-back will make the car loose power compared to a setup of LT headers, no h-pipe, and 2.25"

i understand that the diameter of the pipe affects how much power will be lost/gained, but i still cant find a mass-produced cat-back that isnt smaller than 2.25", and i really dont wanna go custom, unless i can find a place that does mandrel bends for a reasonable price

so does anyone know what company makes a dual 2.25", i tried searching but im so tired now that ive given up

No aftermarket exhaust will make you loose power. For a mustang gt the optimal diameter is 2.5. thats why thats all you find.

those people that you are hearing from don't know what they're talking about. for a primarily street driven Stang, a good 2.5" H-pipe helps make more power than single exhausts on both sides not connected in an H. it's only for all out drag cars at high rpms that long tubes not connected can make the most power but they lose torque on the bottom end without the H-pipe.

Get the X pipe. Thats the best flowing pipe and you will get better numbers.

The exhaust setup on both v6 and v8s allow for true dual exhaust. You can put the x pipe but it will require two mufflers.

yeah i was planing on getting duals anyways but i thought x-pipes were only for v8's

whats the diff between x/h pipes, other than their shape

Well the x is supposed to give you more high end horsepower because it flows the air quickly, but the h more restricts the flow just a little more than the x does, which in turn allows you to retain just a bit more torque.
