E or F 303 Cam???

I have a 90 H.O. block with heart shaped head and 10:1 Prode Forged pistons, The Engine shop installed a Crane Compu Cam 2020, I was at the track, and it floats valves at 4800 to 5000 RPM. I think they may not have used the rite springs. So here is the question would a E-303 or F-303 work better.(this is an carb. car, 5spd, 4:10 gears, headers)

If its isyour springs, it wouldbe much easier to just order some new springs. Its not very hard to replace the springs. Check with the shop and see if they used new springs or reused the old ones. Its not necessary to remove the springs when installing a cam, so they might not have touched them.

they reused stock springs... but even with spings for this cam valve float is spec'd at 5400rpm.... stock cam the engine use to have I shifted at this rpm..... to change the cam is no big deal.... just need to know which one.... next year car will get performer heads... and I only want to change the cam once..

Thats a really low rpm for a spring to say it will start floating valves. I could see it from tired stock springs, but a good new spring should hold at least through 6k.

The best advice I can give on cam selection is to call the company you want the cam from and talk to them about what you need. I use comp cams, theyre xtreme energy line is the best ive ever used, and tech support is awesome. Ive called them on my last 3 builds, just to get advice on which cam they thought would be best. Tell them what you want from your motor, what mods you have, etc. and they can recommend something for you.

RE: E or F 303 Cam???

It's not the springs, it's the cam spec sheet that says it will float valves at that rpm, and I will be talking to the engine shop and the cam company on monday, but I was just trying to get some insight... if anyone has had any problems going for stock to E-or F-303...once again thisis a carb. car so idle andemissions are not a problem.I already know that the crane compu cam 2040 (new part# 444231) is the e-303 ford cam, this cam that is in the motor now seem to be more for an auto and low rpm. thanks for the info and I'll see what the engine shophas to say..

neither one will be that good, go wit a trick flow 1 cam, they are cheaper and better than both the f and e cam, sounds better too. if u wanna get pretty nasty go wit a trick flow 2 cam, or comp cams.jmo good luck
