so i got my hands on a 91 stang and through the years it has sprung a couple leaks that were fixed but never cleaned up. what it really needs is a good engine washing. i have never done something like this and always hear stories of people washing there motors only to have nothing but problems after trying to start and running like crap.

when i used to race mx alot i used this simple green stuff that worked awesome on my bike is this stuff safe for my motor. also i have a pressure washer how should i used it. it is a 2600 psi unit i assume i will probably just turn it all the way down to be safe. or should i just use a regular hose with a nozzle on it. lastly, where the heck do i do this so i don't get all the oil and nasty debri from my car on my driveway.

any other tips for doing this would be great. this is my first time and definately want to do a nice job on it.

The problems you'll have is with the ignition and computer connections. There are a couple ways to prevent this.

For the ignition, make sure your wires, plugs, and distributor cap are in good shape. Dialectric grease at both ends of the plug wires will help. And, don't use full pressure on these parts.

For sensors, some dialectric grease on all connections will keep the water out. Again, don't use full pressure.

Note that you won't really want too much pressure for most parts of the engine, and with a good degreaser, you won't need a lot of pressure.

Never use a pressure washer cleaning an engine, too risky! Put your thumb on the end of an open garden hose & that's all the pressure you need lol
