I can't get no satisTRACTION

Man, I am so frustrated right now! [sm=badbadbad.gif]

I have a 2000 V6 auto and I live in Iowa. We have lots of snow on the ground and some packed in places. I have 335-35-18 Michelon Pilots out back. Now, I knew when I bought this car that it wasn't a tank in the snow, for sure. But this is ridiculous! I can't even get to 10 mph on flat ground! I have to think that the overly wide tires out back are a major contributing factor, because I have seen some stangs out. Those things must be like two sleds. ARRRGGHH!!

So I have four 215-65-16 snow tires that I need to buy rims for. I am hoping with narrower snow tires, and some sandbags in the trunk, I'll at least be able to move out of my subdivision to get out and back up my driveway to get home. Any thoughts? I need some HELP, y'all. I'm ready to sell!! :(

ya ur lo-pros and snow definately dont go together the narrower and tires with a wider side wall will be a big improvement and the sandbags are a big[sm=smiley20.gif] once u get going its ok but dont get stuck cuz our v6s and their STUPID one wheel drive setup is horrible for trying to get out

get some V6 rims for those tires - the great thing is if you get a GT you can still use em in the snow or for drag wheels :D

Holla, Joe!! I cannot begin to tell you how frustrated I am right now. Joe, remember about the blower dependability? This is basically the same thing. I can't have this, so I'm either going to sell the car or scream.

So basically, you guys are saying that narrower snow tires and sandbags WILL make a difference? Because I don't want to plop down $200 for some beater rims and still be a pig on ice.

it helps get moving if you can use 2nd gear to take off with if you have a manual tranny but those big tires sure ain't helping any either.

round, it's an auto. Would 2nd still help?

I am slowly gathering that the snow tires would make a big difference. How big?

yes but I don't think the autos they use now will let you start in 2nd gear although they might with the V-6, check your owners manual or just try it one time and see. I know I couldn't with my factory AOD but the older Ford auto trannys used to let you select 2nd gear just for use on ice and snow.
and yes the snow tires would make a world of difference in getting some traction versus what you got on there now.

:D

I have four V6 Pony wheels with brand new Blizzaks, I used them for 2 days on snowy roads and took them off. I'd have to ship'em, but I'll let everything go for $300!!

dan..for another 300 with you throw in the car*L*

wide tires are just terrible in rain, snow, mud you need a thin tire to "cut" threw the elements
