Default Are the stock brakes just completely horrible?

Is it that the stock brakes/pads are just completely horrible on Mustangs or may I need to get new ones soon? I recently got this car (in july last year) and since I've gotten it I've noticed the braking to be pretty bad. It's not like its impossible to stop, but If I do try to stop quickly while going 40+, sometimes the anti lock brakes will apply or it will just feel like they aren't doing a great job stopping the car. Also, sometimes I have to pump the brakes to get a good catch on the rotors... I feel stupid for asking but I think I've waited long enough, any help is appreciated.

Sorry for two threads.

if i am going fast @ like 80 mph and higher and stop a few times in a row mine start smoking and become very weak. I need some drilled and slotted rotors I guess to help dissipate the heat better. I dont think you should have trouble at normal speeds above 40 though and the ABS thing aint too cool either. Have u checked your pads and rotors, fluid level and all of that crap?

check fluids, maybe bleed the brakes to get some better pressure in the pedal.

If the brake fluid is any color other than clear,it's contaminated with moisture and needs to be changed. This will cause the calipers to rust internally causing binding.Usually this causes the brakes to pull to one side or rapid pad wear. What are you comparing the Mustang brakes to?A lighter car will require less pedal effort to stop.I had a Lincoln MK VIII,and when I bought my Mustang I thought it's brakes would put me through the windshield. The difference of 900 lbs was amazing.
