Default Nitto 555r or 555rII?

Trying to figure out what tires to put on in the spring...
Anyone using these have an opinion? They say that the ride is a bit rougher than stock. How much?

nitto's are good for longevity, BFG's are great for traction

The nittos will still competely outperform ANY standard street radial on the market. The BFGs are even more sticky, but the nittos are fine for most street applications that want to get 7-10K + out of their tires.

BTW, the NT555R2s are for circle track racing, while the regulars are more for straight line traction.

For the ultimate in traction, but short tire life...Mickey Thompson ET Street Radials and BFG Drag Radials...For decent traction (at the track) Nitto drag radials...I have had 3 sets of Nittos, and now trying Kumho's drag radials and am quite happy with them...BTW, just realize wet driveability with any of these, especially the MT's and BFG's is marginal.

I'm looking for a summer tire. I currently have Snow tires on for the winter and want to keep them for next winter. I'm looking at getting a second set of rims for the summer as well. One option I was looking into was Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3... However If Nittos will work much better, I'd like to go with them. This car gets alot of miles and I dont plan on changing tires out everytime I go to the track.

I cannot tell you how long the nittos will last, other than they have been on my car for quite some time now. I would estimate close to 8-10k miles on them. The rears are showing some wear, but the fronts still look great.

So long as you can afford to replace the rears at a cost of aobut 320 dollars plus mounting every 10k or so, you should go with the nittos. I love em, 10x the straight line traction of my old BFG regular radials and the handling is much better as well

As far as which tire to choose depends on what u want to do the 555r's are more for drag and i think the 555II are more for circle track racing like 2000 said but the 555r's are suppose to last for 15xxx unless u get a lot of burnouts but hey who doesn't?

Just a quick note... Ive had my Nitto Drags on the rear of my car and got 8000 miles out of them with heavy track use and daily driving. They are almost bald but I have two more coming in the mail Friday.
