Yes you will need to beef up the T-5. You can get a stronger gear set from astro performance but still leaves you with the weak caseor you can upgrade to a tremec transmission it all depends on how deep your pockets are and what you plan powerwise for the car. Like blue oval boy said their only rated at 300-330lb ft of torque so their pretty easy to break

Well I did a little research and a site I found said that generally a stock T-5 is rated to handle about 300 lb. ft of torque, so I'm pretty sure if you build that motor up you'll need to built up your tranny as well.
I know a guy who has a 638 RWHP 90 GT with what he says is a T5. I don't know the torque specs, but with the power that high, I'm betting it's close to that number as well. I'm sure he beefed up the innards of the tranny tho.
