do i have the right size tires or not?
Hi i have a 94 gt and the owner before me put on cobra R rims. you can sort of see them in the sig but i will attach some picts that i have. do you guys know if there is any difference between the GT tires and rim setup than the cobra tires and rims setup? i am asking this because my tires look like they are wearing weird and the steering is harder than i imagined so im wondering if the geometry is off? Also, when i have the steering cranked all the way left and right and when i am going forward or backward, i hear this rubbing noise. here are the dimensions of my tires 255/40R17. any help or explanations would be nice
Thanks!

RE: do i have the right size tires or not?
Those tires should be fine but are probably rubbing in the front. What is the actual width of the rim?Is the car lowered at all? Are the tires wearing on theinside? Most people will just take a rubber mallet and pound on the wheel well a little in the front to stop the rubbing, you should be able to tell where its rubbing when you take the wheel off

the tires are just a tiny bit wider than the rim by a few mm, 255mm+ (10~+ inches)
the car is not lowered and the tires are wearing on the outside.
thanks for the idea with the wheel well i actually should have thought of that lol. too bad i dident realize that when i changed my break pads like 2 weeks ago[:@]
im thinking of playing with the caster and camber, my dad has all the tools because he has rebuilt 3 cars so ill look into that. does any one know what the caster and camber should be on my 94 GT?
the picts that i have are from the previous owner so they have less mileage on them

no its not a problem anymore i did just what 1991LX said and looked at the spots where the wheel rubbed in the wheel well and pushed them out. and besides it only happened when i had the tires completely cranked all the way. go ahead and get the rims, they look so nice and i have gotten lots of complements on them.
hey how does the removal of the air flow silencer sound? or did you do it just to get a little bit more HP?

so if i were to go to say Tire Rack and tell them what i should have, should they be able to set me up w/o any problems? what im wondering is, is it possible that i could get 245/45-17 or 275/40-17 to fit on my rims even though the width is not the same as the tires that i have now? this is my first time if u have not guess already lol

here are the rims that i have. i found them on American Muscle.

mine just have a R emblem in the center instead. the correct tire size according to AM is 255/40-17. so i guess i do have the right size tires.
