Hey about to change the tranny fluid. Should i put gm gear mesh (or something like that. Heard people recomend it) 5 speed manual tranny. What people recomend. Never changed. 75K miles on car

Why take chances? Just use what the owners manual says too. I believe my '07's 5 speed manual needs Ford ATF in it.

My son's '85 GT had gear oil in it and he switched to the ATF and says it shifts much better. I'm not sure what's called for for his tranny, but it's a high mileage old car and he can do what he wants with it and fix anything that goes wrong too. So it works for him.

Personally, I plan to convert over to full synthetics on everything once my car has 5k miles on it. But the synthetics will be the types called for in the manual.
