serpatine belt questions

my car is a 84 and has a serptine belt system on it..i am going to elimate the a-c and smog.,but all the books and ebay only list the parts for a 86-93...but i have looked at a friends car and it is exactly the same ..other than its injection...and last is my water pump regular or reverse roation

why can i not just remove the smog and a-c unit and get a dirrerent belt?

i removed the ac and smog pump, but i also have an ac eliminator
