Default Need a heater for the garage

I want to put a heater in the garage this winter. Don't need it to keep the temp. 70 degrees, just above freezing. Something that is economical would be good.

Get a propane space heater. You can use the bottle from a propane grill and they work pretty well.

thats not really economical though, hell be refilling propane probably twice a week and i think a tank is somewhere around 40 bucks isnt it? thats gonna get expensive QUICK.

id check around for those electric space heaters and check out how much power they draw then figure out what it would do to your electric bill.

I used a propane heater a lot last winter, it actually ran for many many hours on one tank. Refills are around $20. No method is gonna be really cost efficient unless your garage is insulated like the rest of your house.

I believe electric heaters usually use a ton of energy.

A 20 pound tank costs about $15 to refill at an
agway or so. A 5 gallon container of kerosene
cost $15 or so for a torpedo heater.
Both emit FIRE and I would not recommend it
running without you there. They will , However,
heat the garage warm enough for you to work.

It might be cheper to just get a $25 ELECTRIC
MAGNETIC HEATER TO KEEP THE oil
warm in the car. Probably 150 watts each.

You could go for an air oil burner from a camper
that will run on low speed with an oil tank.

Is the garage insulated? If not then it's gonna cost a fortune just to keep it above freezing. How cold does it get where you live, in winter?

well if your garage isnt connected to your house and you dont mind the smell look for a used oil buring heater. alot of garages have them and when they go out of business they are always selling them. then just save all ur used motor oil and tell your buddies to bring over their used oil its cheap heat. and recycyling as well

If you have natural gas in your garage like I do, at my hot water heater, then a natural gas space heater is definitely the way to go.
