well my friend has this 82 mustang in his yard, runs and drives but he wants to pull the 4cyl and put in a stock 302 motor, unsure the trans he wants to use but what he wants to know is what all does he need to do this swap? if you know, please list everything he would need, and would the motor mounts bolt up or need to be welded? thanks in advance.

well, ill start it off by saying it is a pain in the *** and he is better off just getting a 5.0 and fixing it up. he will need an engine, tranny, driveshaft, rear end, wiring harness, springs, radiator, and thats just the start. there are many articles on it on various sites. give it a google search and u should find better results.

wiring harness for what? he has a 84 302 carb'd to put in. what would he need the harness for? the rear will hold up just fine from what i've seen and heard. the driveshaft he knows about. but otherwise it should not be that hard, motormounts... engine, trans, possible trans bar, driveshaft... i dont think much else is needed?

its not a big deal the 302 will go right in the trans bar will work unless your gonna run duels then you'll need a dbl hump one.just trying to think cause i did the swap yrs ago i think i even used the same rad.make sure he has a oil pan from a car with the dbl hump to and I'd say your on your way

so what all does he need, engine , trans, poss. driveshaft, motor mounts? double hump trans bar. that it?

the 8.8 is much stronger than the 7.5, plus they are dirt cheap. he can do whatever he wants, but i suggest an 8.8.

yeah, the 8.8 would be nice but he's only going to be running about 280hp for a daily driver with some ***** is about it.
