best hp mod for 01 s281 n/a
I wanted to see if I could get a few opinions on doing some engine modifications on the car i just purchased. Its an 01 Saleen s281 normally aspirated coupe. I want to get some more horsepower out of it saftely, it has 37,000 miles on it. I was wondering what I can do to get the most safe horsepower out of it for $1,000 dollars or less. Also wanted to ask what would be the best overall bang for the buck horsepower mod for my saleen. Im thinking about a turbo, but that wont be for a long time lol. Just wanted to get some opinions from you guys who know your stuff. Thanks I appreciate it.

I understand a turbo will cost around 5k but i was planning on purchasing one of those till way off in the future. So you guys say nitrous is the best mod for under $1k. What brand do you prefer and how much of a shot? Like I said I want a safe application, dont have a whole lot of money to be blowing up this motor. I thought you guys would guide me into the direction of some kind of cold air intake or intake manifold. let me know

u need to do some reading on your saleen. it al depends on your internals of your motor!! nos of course for that amount of money!! nos is the best dude!! for cheap hp!!! u want a wet shot its not as hard on your motor. u should be able to shot 30 to 40 percent of your hp now!! u wannna make sure u havea tune before u shot. if your air flow is not right or fuel pressure or bottle pressure ain't right BOOM!!!but ifits all tuned right i've seen people hit nos for years and stilll running there$hit!!!! later

i forgot one thing your saleen is a 01 it should be forged. thats why i said read up on it.. if your motor has forged internals u can basicaly spray what ever u want man.go with a nx kit, with all the $**** don't go cheap, bottle opener, heater, purge,bottle bag,gauges, and plate injection or nosel,, and take a video and send it to me!!!!

it doesnt sound like youre going to be puttin a forged bottom end in, in that case i wouldnt recommend over a 75-100 shot. ive heard of ppl runnin 150 shots on the stock bottom end...but thats a quick road to a painful recovery...lol... i vote gears and bolt ons until you got enough money to do it right (s/c or turbo)...imo...
