Default tie rods, spindles, and rotors, oh my!

Alright so I want a disc brake kit for my 66 mustang but want to use 4 lug rotors so I don't have to switch out the rear end. My question is this, why can't I say, use a donor car like an escort or focus or something that has 4 lug discs up front and put it on my mustang. Use say the bigger 8 cylinder outter tie rod, and then pull off the rotors and calipers from a ford focus. How interchangeable are these parts and how do they all bolt together. I honestly dont' really know much about this. I also plan on putting a randall's rack and pinion in the car. Any info, advice, clarification would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
