Default teach me manual valvebodies

I have an aod in my stang with a 2800 rpm stall converter and a shift kit. I have been thinking about putting in a manual valvebody. What all is needed to do this (shifter?) Can i install it myself with a basic set of tools and some experiece? do i need to pull the trans? How much do they cost? I heard that with the lentech ones you can swith back to normal AOD mode if you are feeling lazy. Any input on that? thanks all.

you wont like full manual on a daily driver, get the manual/auto from lentech probably about 500bucks.

im puttin one in my c4, so if u wanna wait about 2 months i can tell u

the manual valve body is a reverse pattern (well, im 99% sure, correct me if im wrong), so you will need a reverse pattern shifter. hurst, b&m, TCI are some brands to look at. im gettin the hurst pistol grip one.

Im pretty sure if you drop your pan and remove the filter it will be staring you right in the face. Piece of cake.

well its like installing a shift kit plus a little electrical work for the o/d switch. the only thing i dont like about mine is that its FULL manual. so it runs full line pressure all the time. line pressure is what firms up shifts so full line pressure shifts fairly hard but the converter over rides that on the 1-2 shift but the 2-3 and 3-4 shift really hard due to the lock-up in the converter. if your ever up in columbia you can ride in mine and see what i mean. and not all manual vb's are reverse, mine is normal

yup, thats it. they showed how to do valve body work on one of the spike shows last weekend and all you do is drop the pan and remove the filter.
