Anybody know anything about the 2000 SHM S2?
(I posted this in the newbie section, but was directed over here)
Hi all, new here. Up until recently (maybe a month ago), I'd been looking to buy a WS6. However, my roommate started shopping around for a 2003 Cobra (which he bought Tuesday of this week) and I got Mustang Fever.
My dilemma is, I know NOTHING about Mustangs at all. This 2003 Sean Hyland S2 has caught my eye, but I need to know if anybody here has had any experience or knows anyone who has had any with anything from SHM (preferably one of the S2's).
So, here are my questions:
Is this a good price? If not, what ballpark figure should I look to get into it for? This car has been on their lot for at least a month, so I would think I could probably knock off $500, at least. I REALLY doubt my bank will give me $23k for a 2000 Mustang GT.
Would it be possible to upgrade the blower on this with a new pulley (like on the roots-type SC's)?
Also, how much power is the SOHC block good for before I would have to go to forged internals and all that?
Would I be better off finding a decently-priced Mach1 and then having it blown later (since the only difference I can see between it and the Cobra motor is the blower and forged internals, please correct me if I'm wrong.)

um...here's my reply to you.
I bought my 2000 14 months ago and paid 12,700 with 16,000 miles. Granted I bought it in the beginning of december in chicago at a KIA dealer, so they were anxious to get rid of it.
They want twice what the car is worth stock. Some people are into fancy rims and special features like that so i guess that correlates with how much you will pay for the car.
For twice what the car is worth you can SC yourself and still have plenty of $ left over.
There is no way a bank will give you a 23K loan for a car that is 4/5 years old. My suggestion to you is go with a 04 cobra, ws6, or SS. ****...i'll bet you can pick up a 2000 Cobra at a decent price. Something important to look for is how many owners did the car have...Any place you buy the car will show you the car-fax if it's clean.
HOWEVER...Half way through 2001 they changed the transmission and the latter mustangs have the 3650, i think??? Look through the forums...all the transmission problems are with the 3650, i've never seen one on the T-45. Stick with the T-45.
