Default sometimes i just wanna tear it apart

anyone know who makes the a good starter solenoid for a fox? mine has been giving me problems every now and again and when it does the car doesnt want to do jack sh*t (naturally) so i want to tear the damn thing apart starting with the dash and working outwards. i know i can go to advance and just by a replacement but i want something that will actually work. i've seen those mess up just after being bought so anyone know where else to go?

yeah i fried 2 starters and 2 solinoids before i went and bought a jegs high tourke starter and completly rewired the car but i made my 87 lx a carburated car so i have about 5 % of the wires you have the first solinoid fried from fluid on the cabls causing a gap in the wire and it grounded i would check my grouind wire and my hot wire to see if in fact the wires are in good shaope going to it

do stock 5.0 solenoids ground on the solenoid itself? like the screws that go through it ground to the chassis?

i think it might but you should have a motor ground to. i just tore every wire out of the bay and replaced but when and if you start swaping wires be careful i wired it wrong the first time and it would crank over anytime i pushed in the clutch

NO, there is no ground on the starter solenoid, it is just a high current relay that when closed, puts the full power of the battery through to the starter motor. the smaller terminals on it are for the signal from the ignition switch that tells the relay to close and let the power through to the starter. this way the hugh current draw of the starter does not go through the ignition switch, only a small current goes through the signal wire to the solenoid.
