What will get me 500 horse
Well i have a 89 hatch lx and i am looking to get 500 hr out of it. I would like to keep the origanal block. I am thinking about the frpp GT 40 intake. I know have to change the rearend and the i would like to get a manuel transmission. So if you can give me a few suggestions on tranny,rearend,heads,camshaft,gears,clutch,and torque converters and any other suggestions. It would help alot thanks. B-RY

331 347 etc.
AFR heads
custom grind cam (ed curtis)
holley systemax intake
1 3/4 long tubes
36 lb inj.
msd ignition
go with a 4000 stall and 4.30 gears on 28" tall tires and have some fun

Take it one step at a time, there is really no way to just say how to get 500 hp. Thats a dumb question, just start modding your car and learning more about it. The numbers will come with time.

we can start you off if u tell us a few things- immediate budget, plans for the car, and mechanical abilities (can do DIY).
and btw a stockl block can withstand 500, but make sure you put a main gurdle on it

I don't really have an immediate bank i am working on this project with my father. I would like to have a street/strip car but leaning more towards the strip part. Well if i can keep the stock block then i would like to just cram some power into it. I want to keep the outside bone stock and just have all the power underneth the hood. And can you go indepth with your answers. Thanks alot for your imput. B-RY

he's posing, But a answer to his 500 horse question would be kewl..My uneducated guess would be afr heads, gt40 intake, 347 + cid, fully balanced lower with alum rods,kb blower, cam of some sort and fuel to feed it. I dont know jack but beer is fueling me..
