I have a 1989 convertible that dont go up or down. I checked the fuse in the fuse box and it was good.I used a multimeter tocheck the circuit breaker with the ignition in the "ON " postion and had power 12+ volts there.I removed the back seat and hard wired the convertible motor and the top went up and down, so therfor I know the motor is good. When I press the convertible button a I dont hear anything "No relay or motor noise". I removed the convertible switch and check for constant power "12 volts" and I had nothing. "I also replaced the switchwitha new one". I know the two relays in the back by the motor only control the top to go up and down, but my top dont do either. Is it possible that both relays burnt in one shot, or is there a fusiblelink in the motor compartment. Dont forget that my car is a 1989 and dont have a breaker or fuse box in the engine compartment. Any help whould be greatful. Thanks,

Sounds like the wiring between the switch and the motor is messed up?

Check for continuity of the wires themselves

Earlier today I also replaced the two relays with new ones. I'm stumped Like you said I'll have to check the wires. I traced all the wires, but I didnt see any shorts. The top worked great before I brought it to get a new top. The guy said that is was a convertible switch problem. I replaced with a new one and nothing. I checked for voltage with the key in the on postion in the ignition too.
