Default little black box on the core support...what is it?

I've got a 97 Mustang with a 3.8L v6 and 5 speed trans. The previous owner tore the engine down not knowing what they were doing. I've got it back together...although, there is a little black box on the core support next to the radiator and runs to the ECM...anyone able to tell me what it is...all I know is that it's the only thing keeping the car from running. thanks, Jamie

This is the multi-function box. Controls a whole bunch of things. I had the same problem but i when to the junkyard and asked the parts salesman what it was.

Is that the actual name? Autozone has no listing of something by that name.
