Default 427 FE W in my 83?

I am buying an 83 GLX convertible 5 speed, I have always wanted to drop the 427 in the 69 cougar, but after driving this car, I really want to see this baby pass 500 horses, so I was wondering if you guys would know if I would have to do some welding and cutting to make the 427 fit in the 83 mustang 5.0 GLX

There used to be swap kits out there for that, but unless you have the 427 why bother? You're going to need alot of upgrades to handle the HP.

I've seen the big block swap done in my friends stang, but personally don't know every little detail. I know there was professional fabrication on the motor mounts and most of the front end. It was beefed up to handle the extra weight too. And it was a bithc to find a fan that wouldn't hit the radiator. Then he put twin 4 bbl carbs and they hit the hood because the motor wasn't low enough, so he got a cowl because nobody manufactured a shaker for twin 4 bbls when this swap was done years ago. That was one of the fastest NA stangs I have ever been in though. Good luck with the swap

BTW, a 427 is a bolt in for the cougar. Factory mounts etc..
