Default 4.10's or 3.73's

Hey guys so i have a 98 GT with zero mods..and everyone is saying that i should get 4.10 gears..well i have heard that 3.73's are better in a manual transmission, which is what i have...so my question to all my fellow mustang people..which is better for my 5 speed? 4.10's or 3.73's...i also do a little bit of highway driving everyday...so that may also be a factor..im thinking about getting one of the gear kits off of americanmuscle.com ...idk which programmer to get either...i want to be able to custom tune myself, and i have heard that the diablosport has only presets..so idk..please help me out guys!!

Unless you are planning on basically making it a 1/4 mile car, go with 3.73s. With 4.10s, you will suck down the gas on the highway like no other.

I have to agree and say the 3.73's will be better. That is what I went with for my car. Think about this, you will be at 2800 RPMS cruising at 75 MPH on the highway with 3.73's so with the 4.10's you will be well over 3000 rpms just cruising. When people say it wont be THAT bad, I think they mean, you will make it to where your going sure, but trust me it will be really bad gas milage.

Oh and NO the tuner cant fix that. Think about it this way, for all the money you save it gas from the lower gears you can save up for a SUPERCHARGER or TURBO or NOS or ...or....something!

Can't you just high-performance tune up the girlfriend instead?
