Parking brake sensor bad on '94 GT Conv; recommendations?
My 1994 GT Convertible is experiencing a bad parking-brake sensor--or I suspect as much given the red, parking-brake light doesn't always come on (on the dashboard) when I pull up the parking-brake lever. The parking brake still seems to work, however.
The biggest problem result: my convertible top won't go up or down unless it senses the parking brake engaged. I'm typically able to get the sensor to work with a few different brake-handle pulls and releases, but if this problem gets worse and the sensor eventually never works, I could be stuck with my top down in the rain sometime, and that would stink.
I'm not a car techie, so I ask here: does anyone have suggestions about how to fix? Can I tinker with some wires/sensors to possibly get it to work? Thought's on difficulty for a mechanic to fix, what parts might be involved, etc?
