Default Has anyone purchased the Airaid intake system?

Has anyone purchased the Airaid intake system?

If so, what are your thoughts on the product and it's performance?

I am thinking of getting one to help boost the HP/tourque and help with gas mileage.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I installed a CAI on my Stang, It comes with a K&N type reusable filter, the system fits the same as the stock system. I think it's well worth the $, you add performance along with economy. I gained about 2-3 miles per gallon of gas and approximatly 15 HP. You will definatly notice the gain when you punch it....some people say that the computer will adjust the factory settings back to original, I have had it for about a month and it still has the same BANG as it did when installed. Enjoy!

Go with a different intake, such as a C&L or JLT. While you're at it get a tune too. The 4.0 V6 responds very well to an intake and tune. Go to www.brenspeed.com, they'll have everything you need.

Umm,, where do you get your figures from? Perhaps if your old air filter was dirty then swapping a new/clean air filter will get you a couple extra mpg, which is always agood thing. Even people who keep their stock air intake should be replacing the filter at proper intervals.

If you're LUCKY you might get an extra 2-4 HP with a CAI, not 15. Don't believe the ads When K&N states "up to 15 HP increase" they werern't talking about 99-04 Stangs

k&n web site they dyno tested a 2002 mustang gt with there cai and gained 9hp. I wonder if they retuned after they installed it or just put it on that sounds like a lot.

I was intersted in the Airaid due to the reasonable price andno tuning is needed.

It states the following on V6MustangStuff.com

Airaid 2005+ V6 Intake System
AIRAID has developed a state-of-the-art Cool Air Intake System for the new Mustang, p/n 450-177 that generates an additional 13 rear-wheel horsepower and 10 lbs/ feet of torque. The new V6 Mustang system utilizes a roto-molded, cross-linked polyethylene intake tube and light-weight composite Cool Air Dam.

What are your thoughts????

From what I have seen the Airaid CAI is a pretty nice one but you are going to need a tune to go along with the CAI to see any gains on the new 4.0L.

For CAI's the only "real" fair test is to put it on aflow bench and test the amount of airflowresistance, compare that to a stock intake system that has a clean air filter. Yes less resistance will give you better performance.

Dyno testing CAI's... if you're not super careful, you can dyno test the exact same car twice 1/2 hour apartwith no mod changes, and might geta +-5bhp difference. Maybe the engine is slighty more warmed up the 2nd time.. maybe the rear tires have heated up while spinning the dyno wheel the first time, resulting in slightly higher air pressure the 2nd time.
