Default RE: Insurance Company Totalled my Car

Here is the other thing that bothers me. Why am I so worried about being paid back for what the car is worth because of not paying for EXTRA insurance? The accident was not my fault, does the OTHER insurance company not have to pay me whatever my car is worth plus receipts? I mean, if I had liability only, it should not matter, it is not my insurance company thats covering the damages and I am not at fault. I am hoping at least partial reimbursement. Such a rip off.

What is the point of insurance then if your not reimbursed for your lost possesions?!?!?!? Why can't it work the same way as health insurance?

Well the way I see it. For example:

A) you buy a $1000 car & insure it as a $1000 car. Then

B) you have a $5000 sterio custom installed into the car, but don't tell the insurance company about it.

C) the day after the sterio install the car gets destroyed in an accident that also destroys the sterio stuff..

What do you think the insurance company is going to give you? $6000? lol good luck

They'll give you $1000 or slightly less if if the car has deprieciated since you bought it. If you want to, YOU can sue the guy who crashed into your car for the other$5000.

Now if after installing the sterio you go back to the insurance company and re-asess the cars value as $6000 then they'd be responsible for the value of the sterio too. However your payment premiums would be higher

because its CAR insurance. not PROPRETY insurance. they are insuring your vehicle...as it came from the factory. any modifications you do they dont give a crap about unless they are getting their money for risking insuring it.

if you put 10,000$ worth of rims on your car, 10,000$ worth of stereo ****, a 5,000$ paint job, 20,000$ in performance parts, and they dont know about it are they going to reimburse you for that stuff? absolutely not. its too risky on their part to do that. they would be loosing a fortune.
