UNINSTALL REAR SEATS on a CONVERTIBLE?
I have a 2002 convertible. I was thinking of removing the back seats to lighten the weight of the car. I figure it will free up about 30 lbs. Does someone have good step-by-step instructions on how to do this?
Thanks,
Trey

You can buy a rear seat delete kit which is actually really nice and looks good in place of the seats. You can even make your own made out of a light wood, such as plywood, covered in cloth that will match your interior.
You can find these on a lot of stang websites, but here's a link:

I also found a few on EBAY that are a bit cheaper as well.
Good luck!

I do not know if it is the same on the 2002's but it sounds like it . On a fox you got to push down real hard to disingage a jearked off clip.
So sit in the back with your *** on the canter console . push down as hard as you can and hold it down . now with the seet down the clips should come off the seat now lift up and away from yourself and the blots you are looking for are right thare
this will work if it is the same bull s**t system as in the 5.0 's and it sounds like it is but I could be wrong

Pull them up from where? Am I looking for bolts behind the seats?

Here's how to do it exactly for 94-2004 models.
A) A spring-loaded retainer holds the lower seat cushion. The cushion is released by locating the retainer that is approximately 10 inches from the edge of the cushion on either side. Take a flat screwdriver and push in retainer release button. The seat should pop up and be released.
B.) The back seat cushion is held by two 10mm screws, located on each lower corner. Remove screws and slide seat upward releasing cushion from bracket at the top
Hope this helps.
