H-Pipe vs. X-Pipe

Hello,

I have a 2000 Roush Stage 2 with a vortech S-trim, running 10lbs of boost. I have ceramic headers, and the standard Roush exhaust kit. Does anyone have a good suggestion for the type of exhaust piping I should use for my particular setup(H or X)?

Thanks,

Larry B

RE: H-Pipe vs. X-Pipe

H pipe = badass sound, deep and musclecar-ish

X pipe = not as deep, more raspy...ish? "more power"[&:]

I say go with H

the main difference is sound, which is preference. Decide which one you like the sound of better and then you'll know which one to get.

H pipe (old school)helps more at low RPM, X pipe more influence on top end.
Next time you watch a NASCAR race, watch when they flip and tell me what you see.
An X pipe, those guys have a MUCH bigger budget than I do,I'm assuming they dyno tested both.https://mustangforums.com/micons/m11.gif
You make the call.

I love my x pipe it is really raspy but it sounds great.Ive had nothing but compliments : ) One of neighbors told me Im his alarm clock in the morning and that it sounds great. Then the neighbor with a corvette says hes buying a new exhaust becausehis car is suppossed to be louder thanmine. lol (Of course oneneighbor isntso friendly andshe squirts me with a hose when I drive down the street in first gear) : (

RE: H-Pipe vs. X-Pipe

yeah i have the ole' X-pipes as well... I did a whole new set up when i changed mine over. It used to be 2chamber flows, h-pipe, 2.5" tubing/pipe w/ 3" tips....
Now
X-pipe, Long tubes, 3" pipe, 2 chamber flows and turndowns....

I like the way it sounds, especially when i get up to about 3k in second, and it has that hint of wanting to fast then i shift... i like'em.... it's all in choice though.

RE: H-Pipe vs. X-Pipe

yea the h-pipe and turndowns have a very good sound. thats what i run and i love the sound. all i get is compliments. either way you go it will sound awesome but as said many times before you have to decide which sound you like better. it idle the h-pipe sounds better in my opinion but if you are going for really loud and raspy then a x-pipe fits you better. im still a h-pipe fan though
