Ignition switch problems
 
My 89 5.0 wont start, unless i take a wire from the battery to the coil, then the battery dies still, I've been told its probily my Ignition switch, how can i find out if its bad is there away to check them ?:(

A bad Neutral safety switch can do this.


try to start in neutral or another gear.


Check for voltage at the switch after all that, ive seen the wire that goes from the switch to the top of the solenoid go bad.

Its a Standard, Mustang ran fine till one day i was working on it and i left the Coil wires on the headers and i ran down the road with the car and it shorted out and ever since the wires melted on the headers i had this problem,
