EMission issues with mid-90's Mustangs

I am looking at buying a mid-90's Mustang and have heard from several people that they fail emissions on a regular basis, need 93 octane gas and are expensive to repair the emissions issues. Anyone have this experience? Thanks, in advance.

Eh? My '94 has always passed emissions with no problem up until I registered it in FL last summer (no inspections :D). Only Cobras need 91 octane also unless you have a custom tune or something. As far as cost goes repairing emissions equipment on any vehicle is usually expensive. Sounds like you may have just been chatting with a Ford hater.

emmisions issue are normaly due to the fact of people removing EGR valves, smog pumps, cats, things like that, you can run ur stang on reg gas if its stock, but if you start modding stuff it will want to drink the higher oct gas

Check local laws, here OBD-1 (up to end of 95) cars dont have emissions inspections other than visual checks. I'll look it up for you if you give me the state the mustang is/will be registered in to determine if this even applies to you. 93 gas is only required in cobras or mach 1's that specify that octane rating, octane has nothin to do with emissions. Lastly emissions repairs are expensive because of legal ramifications. Ask the dealer/previous owner if modifications have been made.
