07 Shelby cobra Motor
I currently own a 2004 3.8L mustang. At the time i bought this vehicle the V-6 was all I could afford. Now I'm in a position where the cars paid off and I want to start working on the motor and get some ***** in my ride to go along with the looks. What I want to know is will a 2007 shelby cobra 5.4L motor fit in my current car. If at all possible I would just like to outright by a new crate motor to drop in and I found this motor. I know i'll have to upgrade alot of other stuff but my concern at the moment is the motor and i'll work from there. So will it fit and if not, any suggestions out there on what will work.

RE: 07 Shelby cobra Motor
yes. a 2007 shelby cobra engine will fit in your car. remember the old cobra r's had that 5.4 in them but they did not have a blower. so the engine will fit but you might have some clearance issues with the hood. a simple cowl hood will solve that problem. you are aware the cobra motor is ridiculously expensive. i saw a turn key shelby 500 cobra engine for around 17k. they are'nt cheap.

For all the time, effort, and heartache that will go along with a major project like that (not mention the hit that you would take on resale), why not sell the V6, by a used GT, and start from there? It will cost you a lot less in the long run (and probably the short run, too).
Then again, if you like to tinker, such a project will give you lots to tinker with.

For the cost, how about going with a new car...
I'd be willing to bet it would cost over $20,000. I'd be cheaper to built up your 3.8L than swap in a different motor.

RE: 07 Shelby cobra Motor
If someone can build a 3.8 V6 (daily driver quality) that can match the Shelby GT500 hp and torque, I'd sure like to see it! Or at least understand (personal education) how that could theoretically be acheived...

Building a fast daily driver V6 isn't rocket science. Mine gets 28-30 mpg on the highway and I'll be clicking over 200,000 miles on it this Summer. Start with the 4.2L for the frist step: now you have same hp and tq as the beloved 5.0L. Low compression forged bottom end, mild cam, mild heads/intakes and a power adder and you'll see stock GT 500 numbers all day long.
